I’ve had the pleasure of shooting at The Royal Society of the Arts (the RSA) in Central London many times over the last few years, and I’ve gotten to know the various spaces of the building quite well. The rooms in the RSA are some of my favourite in London, and the Vaults in particular of the RSA are quite unique, they feel like a surprise, hidden away under of what’s already a stunning building.
Amelia and Alfie had a November wedding, which is always a gamble in London with the weather and the light. But cleverly they decided to really take advantage of the vaults and work with the intimate, warm feel, so the weather really didn’t matter if it wasn’t perfect. The Vaults themselves are quite dark, but I loved how Amelia and Alfie really took advantage of candles and festoon lighting to help make the Vaults feel cozy.
I adored photographing this wedding, and everyone was so lovely to get to know, including Dolby the Dog, who was allowed to be in attendance graciously graced us with his presence. There were so many great moments in this wedding, including accidental curses during the vows, hilarious speeches and even a few tears.
Amelia and Alfie, thank you again for having me and trusting me to photograph your wedding at the RSA Vaults. It was a delight!
