I personally really love using a restaurant as a wedding reception venue. It’s like a little shortcut to wedding planning; on top of a convenient venue, you already have an amazing built-in caterer, staff, and everything else you need for pulling off a fantastic meal for your guests. It’s what I did for my own wedding reception, and I can totally understand why Megan and Paul picked Kelu Sky Lounge in Sheffield’s Kelham neighbourhood for their wedding reception.
They first had their wedding ceremony in the Hallam Room of Sheffield Town Hall. It was busy in central Sheffield that day, with it being both a Saturday and a food festival on at the Peace Gardens, however we were still able to carve out a space to do the post-ceremony confetti shot and a big group shot of everyone.
After the ceremony, everyone walked across Sheffield, stopping a couple of times for photos, and then walked upstairs of Krynkl to Kelu Sky Lounge. Kelu feels a bit like a secret speakeasy. Hidden away from the street level, you really wouldn’t know it was there unless you were told. It’s a rooftop bar, but has loads of blankets available as well as a retractable awning in case it starts raining. Even with the awning, the light coming through the sides was fantastic. It’s probably not an ideal winter venue, but if the weather is lovely you can really feel like you’re in sunny Italy.
We took a couple of quick breaks during the afternoon to do both family pictures and Megan and Paul’s wedding portraits. This area around Kelham Island is really fantastic for doing couples photos, the contrast between street art and brick industrial buildings photographs extremely well. Even Megan’s bouquet by the fabulous Betty’s Flower Club popped against the background of Kelham Island. It’s a backdrop that has loads of texture and feels very Sheffield.

Megan and Paul- Thank you so much for having me be apart of your wedding. It was such a lovely and relaxed day, and all of your friends and family were so incredibly welcoming.
