The Trafalgar Tavern may just be on of my favourite spots in London. Anyone who has spent an evening there knows how magical it is. The views over Canary Wharf, the subtle sound of the Thames with the ferries and river boats passing by, the glow of the festoon lighting over the outside seating… It’s all a very magical combination.
I personally also really love the Trafalgar Tavern’s “more is more” approach to decorating. I’m not sure there’s a blank piece of wall left in the building. But it all works, it feels quirky and fun without feeling dusty or cluttered. I think this is helped a lot by the huge amounts of natural light that flow through it’s giant windows, making the space feel light and airy.
I lived in Greenwich for several years, and I know the Trafalgar Tavern and the streets around it incredibly well. And so when Hayley and Alex got in touch about me photographing their wedding at the Trafalgar Tavern, I had a lot of inside knowledge about what spots work best in that area and when.
Hayley (like myself) is American and really wanted to bring in a bit of her “American-ness” into the wedding. You can see it in the little details like the bunting, but what really brought the “american-ness” was the sheer amount of family and friends she had flying for the wedding. The Trafalgar Tavern was filled with so much international love, it was amazing to see.
At the end of the evening, we popped outside the Trafalgar Tavern to capture some of that evening magic that it has. This is where we captured one of my favourite from the day, Haley and Alex sat under the festoon lighting by the river enjoying the night time view over the thames.
