On the day of the wedding, when I popped into the Shanri-La Hotel in the Shard to photograph the bride getting ready, I noticed that Rachel wasn’t able to move very well.  It turned out that earlier that week, Rachel took quite a bad fall.

I can imagine how Rachel must of felt, spending months putting together the perfect wedding to only be injured the week of her wedding.  I can’t help but admire her, her friends and family who all rallied around Rachel to make her comfortable and make the wedding day still happen.  So you may notice a little crutch sticking out of her wedding photos, but if you didn’t see that, you would of never known she was injured.  She looks stunning on her wedding day, straight out of a movie.

They held their wedding ceremony in Borough Market.   This is the first time I’ve ever photographed or even heard of a wedding taking place in Borough Market, and I’m so excited that I had the chance to photograph there.   I love the stunning architecture and the fact it still quite feels like the market.

After the ceremony, everyone headed up to Roast for drinks, canapés and loads of dancing.  Roast looks down onto Borough Market, and I loved how open the space felt and how many colours were reflected in the glass.  It photographs really well and is a great place to hold a wedding.  I especially love the area it has around it, even in the pouring rain there would be plenty of place to photograph a wedding party.

During the rest of the evening, it became so obvious how much all of Alasdair and Rachels friends adored them.  Friends flew from around the world to be apart of their celebration and everyone throughout the night raved to me how much they adored them as a couple, how awesome they have been together.

For me, this is exactly what a wedding is about.  At the end of the day, it’s all of your favourite people coming together in the same room and celebrating the best things in life.  Rachel could have been more seriously injured, and I’m so thankful that she wasn’t.  Her and Alasdair are awesome together and I know they’ll have a long and happy marriage surrounded by loads of friends and family.

It was such a pleasure to photograph this wedding! Thanks for having me be apart of it!
