Megan and Jesse hit it out of the park with their wedding planning. They picked two of the most beautiful venues in Central London, St. Etheldreda’s Church and the Hotel Cafe Royal on Regent Street.
Wedding preparations begun at the Hotel Cafe Royal. I really love this hotel. They’ve done such a great job on the remodel, keeping with the atmosphere of the famous historic cafe. The newer parts of the hotel feel modern but elegant and really compliment the historic parts.
For the ceremony, everyone took black cabs to St. Etheldreda’s Church, which is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in England. St. Etheldreda’s is hidden away on the private Ely Place, and it’s one of those churches that feels like a little treasure you have to discover.
St. Etheldreda’s dates from 1250-1290, and with being a church that old, one would think it’s a dark church. While there is some darker corners , the church itself photographs so well. From the incredible stained glass windows to the warmth and texture of the stone, you can really feel the history of the building around you. And of course, it was the perfect setting for Megan and Jesse’s romantic ceremony.
Once they arrived back at the Hotel Cafe Royal via a red London Bus, they welcomed their guests to the opulent Pompadour Ballroom, which is one of the most beautiful rooms in the hotel. The ballroom opens up to a private terrace that overlooks Regent Street. The terrace feels private but you still have the energy of the city floating around.
All in all, Megan and Jesse’s wedding was a truly special event, and one I really loved photographing. The two lovely venues were the perfect setting for a really beautiful day.
Megan and Jesse- Thank you so much for having me! I really loved photographing your wedding!
