Emily and Alastair had their whole wedding celebration at the lovely Poundon House in Oxfordshire. They couldn’t of picked a better location for their wedding. The house itself is a beautiful old country family home, and it’s filled to the prim of really lovely decor and antiques. I love it when these homes still feel like homes, and still have the air of being historic, rather than scrubbed clean of all of their quirks.
Emily and Alastair had their civil ceremony on the back portion of the house, half under a marquee, and half in Poundon House, which is outdoors as an English civil ceremony can get. Afterwards they headed straight out the back garden for drinks, and a surprise mariachi band, which played current pop songs with a mariachi twist. (It was absolutely brilliant)
The couple put on each table a selfie stick and a set of photo props. This went down extremely well, and throughout the whole evening, everyone was taking selfies with various decorations. I did have a couple of guests come up to me and ask how to use their selfie stick. :-p
Their friends are crazy (in the best of ways). I’ve been to a lot of weddings, thanks to my lovely job, but stuff happened at their wedding that I’ve never seen before. From a riding a bicycle in the marquee, to a massive competition to who could eat their desert first without any hands. Photographing this lot was easy, and a ton of fun.
Getting to know couples like Emily and Alastair are exactly what makes my job so amazing. They are a blast to hang out with, and their wedding days are an absolute joy to be apart of. You guys rock! xxx
