Excuse me while I nerd out for a bit about a rock formation…
Many moons ago I fell in love with the 2005 version of Pride and Predjuce. It made me fall in love with cinematography, but it also made me fall in love with Stanage Edge. I vowed one day I would visit it and stand on the same rock as Keira Knightly while epic music played in the background. Since then, I’ve fallen in love with hiking and rock climbing, so Stanage Edge has become one of my favourite places in England. So when Jess and Sean said they wanted to do their wedding potraits on Stanage Edge, to say I was keen was an understatement.
Jess and Sean were having their wedding at Woodthrope Hall (check out the blog post here!), which is nearby to Stanage. And while talking through the logistics of doing their photos at Stanage, it became clear that they would be gone for at least an hour of their wedding to make that happen. I personally believe that couples should be there and present for their wedding as much as possible, so I suggested we head out another time to do their wedding couples portraits, which they readily agreed.
So a week after their wedding, Jess and Sean put their wedding frocks back on and we headed out to Stanage Edge at sunset. The weather this evening couldn’t be more different than the rain we had on their wedding day. It was the most glorious sunset, and I’m so glad they embraced it, dirty wedding dress hems at all! After all, Elizabeth Bennet would be proud of Jess’s wedding dress hem being caked in mud!
