Oh Snap!! I’m off to Wales (and various other places!!)

Kari Bellamy for Snap

This year I’ve made the decision to invest more in training for myself then any year previously.  That might seem like a counter intuitive move based on the fact I already make 100% of my income from photography.  But deep down inside, I know the moment I say “my images are good enough”, is the moment that I’ll start to fall behind.

The photography world moves fast,  especially since the advent of digital imagining.  We can see our work immediately and correct our mistakes, rather than waiting for the film to come back from the lab.  We can see the work that’s been created around the world on a daily basis and draw inspiration from it.  Needless to say, despite the fact I make my living from this, I still have to work to keep up.

It’s not just the formal talks that are worth going for,  it’s the “hallway track”.  I can’t even begin to list the tips I’ve learned from just casual conversation with other photographers.  I’m excited about the conversations I’m yet to have and the people I’m yet to meet.

So the plan this year:

… and there may be more! It’s still early in the year, and hopefully I’ll be able to plan some additional ones in if my schedule allows.

I love my job, and I’m serious about keeping it and continually working towards creating the most awesome images I can.

I really can not wait to see what 2015 has to offer :)
